Michael Vick - Should Lucky #7 Be Allowed To Play In The NFL?

I am a longtime fan of the Atlanta Falcons. A LOONNNGGG time. Their history as a team is not one of great prominence or popularity, yet I still am a fan. I was also a big fan of Michael Vick when he came to the team. Needless to say that now I am not! The question is whether or not he should be allowed to play in the NFL?

Some would emphatically say NO! while others would concede that while what Michael Vick did was wrong, morally wrong, and that showed a flagrant disregard for authority, law and order, he has served his time in prison and should be allowed to play. However, is serving time in prison consequence enough and lesson enough?

Most of us resent the fact that he made millions of dollars in the NFL. We resent that he made ridiculous amounts of money and turned his nose up at the rest of us. We resent the fact that he can live in a million dollar home even after having broken the law while the rest of us get by with what we have. Would you not agree?

Yet, who of us would not live a nicer lifestyle if we had the money that he does? Who of us would not upgrade our life? Do we resent him for his money, or do we resent him for his breaking the law and his cruelty to animals? The truth is we have the expectation that those with more money and who are in the public eye should be more responsible, ethical and moral. When they fail, we, as the public, want retribution to a greater degree.

Should Michael Vick be allowed to play in the NFL? I am undecided. I believe everyone deserves a second chance if they demonstrate a changed life. My opinion will be based on what he does going forward and his attitude toward the rest of humanity. If he is allowed to play it is my hope that he plays the game passionately and not like he did in Atlanta, unless, of course, he was playing against them.

Success is the result of accomplishing and pursuing worthy goals. Not the attainment of things.

Success - NEVER GIVE UP!

I do a lot to keep myself motivated. I have to do that. Why? Because I am human like everyone else. I have moments of insecurity and doubt. I get afraid and think I may fail at reaching my goals. I am sure you have felt that too. So what can we do to stay motivated? If you are on the internet, as I am everyday, go to YouTube and watch motivating videos that will build up your confidence to go do what it is you need to do. I love to watch videos. Especially those where people accomplish things they did not think they could. The key in everyone of them is that they NEVER GAVE UP!

For you and I it needs to be the same. We have to face our challenges and go after them with confidence, NEVER GIVING UP. Success means exactly that. No matter what challenges you face, no matter how difficult the task ahead, no matter what others may think, say or do to discourage you...NEVER GIVE UP!

It was enjoyable to create because every time I figure out how to do something myself I feel empowered. I feel successful. Feeling successful is part of the process of being successful. The more we accomplish the more we feel capable of accomplishing in other areas. We feel motivated and motivation is a key to being determined to reach our goals in the face of difficulty and adversity. 7 SIMPLE Steps to Setting Worthy Goals

In keeping with my trademarked theme of using SIMPLE as an acronym, I decided to write a short blog about goal setting. Quite often we know what we want or a general sense of what we want but we never take the time to truly define what it is that is our goal. As a result, we rarely see success in achieving it. When we do not have a clear picture, then it becomes complicated and we fail to achieve what we were working toward. so how so we set goals? Here is a SIMPLE method to doing just that.

S-Start with FREE-WRITING. What is free-writing? This is an expression I made up (at least I think I did...if it exists elsewhere I dont know it) that refers to the action of just writing. In other words you write whatever travels from your head to your pen to your paper. Free-writing has no rules. You just write. There is no need to worry about grammar, details, possibilities or anything else. You SIMPLY write anything. Anything you have ever dreamed of doing, write it! It could be personal, business, financial, romantic, etc. The list is endless. It allows our mind to be free and creative and we learn something about ourselves in this too. Free-writing opens the mind up to the possibilities that it may have not accepted in the past. Whatever limitaitons we have placed on ourselve, or allowed others to influence, then this is the way we remove those limitations. Start free-writing!

I-Incorporate Creativity. Being creative is a process that continues growing once you start it. It may be a little challenging at first, but once the process starts you begin to get very creative with your goals and the ways to reach them. Being creative helps you to find new ideas and new ways to reach goals that you may not have thought of before. One idea leads to the next and so forth until you have a HUGE list of interesting things.

M-Minimize Negativity. Goal setting for some can serve as a list of impossibilties or of failed opportunites. Goal setting is not for the purpose of beating ourselves up over mistakes and past failures. It is for helping our mind to focus on the future and the possibilities that exist for us. They should be goals that accomplish something worthy and are for the benefit of us and others. Negativity is a goal killer so do not allow your mental state to say, "Oh this sounds good but I will never be able to do that." "This is too far away and is unreachable...why bother?" These types of expressions are negative and non-productive. Avoid them like a plague.

P-Patient & Positive Attitude.
Patience is an aspect that is extremely important in setting goals. For the impatient person, just taking the time to write out goals can seem to be a chore. Their thoughts are ones that think it is a waste of time and that we should just go and do it and if we cannot have it now then we will never get it. We live in a society of fast money, fast food and fast service. We are tought through media and commercials that we do not have to wait. Patience, however, is a must

Positivity is important for obvious reasons. Being positive helps us to have a clear mind that can easily be focused and creative. It allows us the mind to find ways to solve problems even when we are not necessarily focused one thing. The mind is like a parachute...it has to be open to work. Being positive helps keep it open to possible solutions.

L-Learn From Mistakes. We will make mistakes along the way. We will learn what does not work far sooner than we learn what does work. Mistakes are inevitable so rather than permit them to bring us down and discourage us, we should view them as progressive steps to a solution and an achievement. Even better is when we can learn from the mistakes of others. Sometimes we can avoid a certain course of action SIMPLY by finding out what others have done. Learning is a process of life and if we are not learning then we are not growing.

E-Evaluate What Is Important. Some goals will be more important to you than others. It is important ot prioritize them and determine which will take more time to accomplish than others. Be sure to keep an updated list and to review it regularly. Know what is important to you in you life keeps you moving forward. Things and priorities will change. What is important to you now may not be important to you a month from now, 6 months from now, a year or more. Evaluating regularly what is important and meaningful will help you keep goals in front of you and you will more likely achieve them. As you do your confidence will grow and you find reaching worthy goals contagious.

Setting goals is an important step in achieving success in any endeavor we undertake. Writing them out and prioritizing them helps you keep focus. A positive, patient attitude helps fee your belief that achieving them is possible and creativity helps you find solutions you may not have thought of otherwise. Success Is SIMPLE when we take the time to do SIMPLE things.

Success Stategies That Work

Are you looking for success strategies that work? Who isn't, right? Success is not always a matter of just following steps 1-10. Actions are certainly important but without the proper attitude and belief system success will just evade us. We have to BELIEVE that what we are doing is worthwhile and that it will work and we have to BELIEVE it without any doubt. Doubt has a way of showing its ugly head when we have it. No matter what actions we take if we doubt then our success strategies will fail. How can we BELIEVE in our success strategy?

Education is the key to a successful strategy. How good of a student are we about what we are doing? If we want to lose weight, for example, we may have some ideas in mind as to how to do it but if we are not convinced beyond doubt that no matter what we do we will not succeed. Why? Because our success strategy is tainted with a virus called...doubt. To eliminate that we should learn why we gain weight and the different methods that we can employ to lose weight. Educating ourselves fuels belief in the success strategy we use because by means of it we change our belief system. Conviction leads to determination which motivates us to not give up. If we doubt then the first time we do not get the results we expected in the allotted time frame we expect, then we will give up. Belief comes from determination which is fueled by conviction which we obtain through the appropriate kind of education.

What is your goal? At what do you want to succeed? What kind of success strategies have you discovered to accomplish you goal? Without the appropriate education success impossible. Whatever you are doing or planning, remember that with the right belief and success strategy, Success Is S.I.M.P.L.E.!

Speaking at the GFWC District 8 Meeting

This pas Saturday I was the guest speaker at the Georgia Federation Women's Club District 8 Annual meeting. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with that group of ladies. Among them was a lady named Ginette. she was from Azalea City near Valdosta. She was 86 years old and probably had more energy than anybody that attended the meeting. Her club won award after award after award. She was the main reason too. With only 18 members in her club she very easily beat the other clubs that had over 100 memebers. Why? The answer is SIMPLE! She kept things SIMPLE. She directs her club with SIMPLE goal oriented tasks and then they work to achieve them. She pays very cloe attention to details and she is a strong believer in what she is doing. She exercises everyday and takes care of herself. She has purpose in her life. Therefore, she is successful in her life adn her goals. It was a pleasure meeting her and in speaking to the whole group of ladies.

Success Is SIMPLE

There is a fine line sometimes between the "definition" of a word and it's "meaning". Sometimes we place a meaning on a word that is a far cry from it's definition. For example the word gay. The definition literally means to "be happy, cheerful". Yet, today the word is used in reference to a homosexual male. If I were to say I was "gay", then you, the listener, would automatically assume I was a homosexual, when in fact I am not. Yet, the true definition is quite different from the meaning we place on the word.

The same can be said for the word "success". Today we place a meaning on the word that is not equivalent to its definition. Success is often viewed as the accumulation of material things, wealth or fame. The definition, however, literally means "to accomplish a that which is sought after;the achievement of a goal". As a result of the meaning so many have placed on it, that is, the idea of extreme wealth, we begin to associate success with something impossible, when, in fact, it is something well within our reach.

To illustrate, let me tell you about my high school math teacher. She taught us geometry and trigonometry. For most of us math subjects can be quite challenging. Crunching numbers and formulas just is not something in which we find shear enjoyment. Our teacher, however, made learning fun. We were able to be successful in passing her class because she taught us in a very SIMPLE way. She took that which was difficult and made it SIMPLE. As a result, not only were we successful, but our teacher was a success as well. In my sophomore year, she was the Georgia State Teacher of the Year; that's correct, the teacher of the year for the entire state. Could we say she was successful? Clearly we can. By stating such do we mean she was welath and famous? No. She was successful as a teacher.

Being successful is truly SIMPLE when we come to understand with clarity the SIMPLE definition and meaning it can have in our life. Whatever task we undertake, we can become successful in achieving it if we have the correct view and we have a SIMPLE and clear picture in our mind as to what we will accomplish. When we live a SIMPLE life, free from complications that cloud the mind, we will more likely succeed in any endeavor we pursue. We can become successful as parents, successful employees or managers, successful entreprenuers, successful teachers, writers, singers, actor or anything else if our mind is clear and our life is SIMPLE. Then, as a result, success will be SIMPLE.
